Terms of Service

Last updated: June 11, 2026

1. About these Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of YomuKana ("YomuKana", "we", "us"), a web application for studying the Japanese language. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use YomuKana.

2. Who we are

YomuKana is operated independently. For any inquiries, contact yomukana@proton.me.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use YomuKana. If you are a minor in your country, use the service under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

4. Your account

Access is via email with a one-time verification code (OTP). You are responsible for keeping access to your email and for activity on your account. Let us know if you suspect unauthorized use.

5. The service

YomuKana provides Japanese study tools (kana, kanji, flashcards, and learning paths). Features may be added, changed, or removed over time.

6. Premium plan (Samurai)

Premium is a one-time payment that grants lifetime access to premium features — understood as for the lifetime of the YomuKana service, not a perpetual guarantee if the service is discontinued (see the section on changes and discontinuation).

Purchases are processed and sold by Paddle, acting as the Merchant of Record (the seller of record), responsible for billing, taxes, and processing refunds. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.

7. User content

You may create your own content (such as text decks and cards). This content is yours. You represent that you have the right to use the content you add and are solely responsible for it. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content back to you, for the purpose of operating the service (including sync). Your content is private — we do not make it public. We may remove content that violates these Terms or the law.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the service for unlawful purposes;
  • attempt to bypass limits, security, or payments;
  • overload or interfere with the infrastructure;
  • add content that infringes the rights of others.

9. Intellectual property

YomuKana, its brand, design, code, and own learning content belong to us and are protected by law. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you.

10. Availability and disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is", without warranty of uninterrupted operation, freedom from errors, or continuous availability. We do not offer an uptime guarantee (SLA).

11. Changes and discontinuation

We may change, suspend, or discontinue the service (in whole or in part) at any time, with reasonable prior notice in the event of discontinuation affecting premium accounts.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability related to the service is limited to the amount you actually paid for Premium. We are not liable for indirect damages, loss of data, or lost profits.

13. Termination

You may close your account at any time (deletion is available in the app). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be signaled by the "last updated" date. Continued use after a change means acceptance.

15. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, with the consumer's domicile elected as the venue for resolving disputes, as applicable.
